Remembering Dad

I'm remembering my Dad on this Father's day. My Dad passed away 7 years ago. I still miss him & my Mom everyday. I thought this to be the perfect day to write about the things I remember and love most about my Dad. My Dad was actually the kind of person who thought the best about people and you very seldom heard him speak a bad word against anyone. He would go out of his way to help others. My Dad also liked to make people laugh. He would get this mischievous sparkle in his eyes and grin and you knew he had a funny story or joke to tell you. Even though he was most funny when he did not try to be (which my husband says I'm just like my Dad in that way) He did end up making us laugh alot. My Dad also loved his children and was so proud of all of us. You could see it in his eyes that he was very proud of us. He wanted all boys so he could have a baseball team, but ended up with only 2 boys (who did play ball) and 4 girls. Us girls messed up his baseball idea, but he was very protective of his girls and was constantly looking out for us. I knew as long as my Daddy was alive I would always have a place to go, if the need arose. There was no doubt of this. He also loved his grandchildren, who they all called Pop. He would brag about his grandchildren everywhere he went and always had a picture to show. My Dad had just retired when my Son (Adam) was born. My Mom and Dad kept Adam while I worked. My Daddy really enjoyed his time with Adam. He taught him to ride a bike, how to play golf and took him to pre-school. They had a special relationship and also Adam is the baby grand-child. I could go on and on, but these are a few things that stick out most in my mind. He is much missed but forever loved!!!

You were very fortunate to have had that relationship with your dad ... I envy what you had.

Just remember that part about trying to be funny though ... you are always funnier whenever you don't try to be!

Luv ya.
